Multi-fuel or a wood burning stove?

Choosing a multi-fuel or a wood burning stove

Most multi-fuel stoves have been designed to burn wood as well as coal and other solid and mineral fuels. So should you be looking at multi-fuel stoves or just wood burning stoves?

Burning wood

It is recommended that you try to burn wood as much as possible since wood logs are carbon neutral and sustainable. They also work out much cheaper than the equivalent fuel load of coal, solid or mineral fuel.

Coal, solid and mineral fuels

It’s handy to have an alternative to wood when your logs run out or get wet and adding coal last thing at night to the glowing embers of a log fire helps the fire last longer.

Contemporary or convecting multi-fuel stoves are harder to find since a big majority of them burn only wood.

Traditional radiant stoves have a wider choice of multi-fuel stoves and wood burning alternatives.

I believe that most of housewives have felt confused about what should they buy, wood burning stoves or multi-fuel stoves. Because I am one of them, wood burning stoves mean more environmental and more healthy, while multi-fuel stoves mean more choice of fuel, stoves users can freely choose their fuel for their stoves.
After reading your article, I am still confused about this question, but I found an useful post from http://astovegiveswarmwinter.blog.com/2012/11/05/wood-stove-and-multi-fuel-stove-what-will-you-choose/
In all, thank you for sharing about wood burning stove and mulit-fuel stove.

Sorry if this answer is too long but its the only way to dbercise it. My guess is that when things start to get tight there will be two options for aircraft and they will utilize both. First is ethanol farm high sugar content crops, ferment them to convert to ethanol, a few additives and you’ve got some pretty good avgas. (Of course biofuel could work good for jet fuel too!). Second is solar energy planes that have demonstrated this have been light in weight, with the majority of their weight actually being solar cells Also because the cells are rigid and straight the wings on the plane were more rigid on top. They didn’t have that nice curve that generates the most lift. Solar companies are now developing solar cells that weigh up to 10 times less then their silicon predecessors, and they are flexible! These new cells have been demonstrated to work but are still in the development stage. Also the efficiency of solar cells in general is on the rise meaning they can pull more energy out of the sun. By the time were running out of fossil fuels this technology will be much cheaper and powerful. So you’ll end up with a kind of hybrid plane, covered in cheap solar cells that flex to fit the streamline shape of the plane. For take off (when the most power is needed) it will use ethanol for fuel to power the engine, (by then our engines will be very efficient too!) and then after your above the clouds and in cruise the solar takes over, providing free unlimited energy to keep the plane aloft. Imagine the endurance on that plane! You could stay up there indefinitely!

People need to be made more aware of smokeless fuels which obviously can be used in these multi-fuel stoves. They’re cost-effective and far more efficient than other fuels yet I rarely see them being sold! If you aren’t going to use these alternative methods of fuel then I would certainly opt for wood.
